Lifeguards of Pool World

They sit in their tall chairs and watch. Their whistles are silent when they blow them but everyone stops. They wear red shorts and white shirts like normal lifeguards but their faces shift when you look away and look back.

The temperature changes you describe correspond to depth. Deeper = warmer in my experience.
